Leave No Trace: seven habits for happy hosts and happy guests

The seven Leave No Trace principles, adapted for Johor campsites.

Hosts rely on guests to look after their land; guests rely on hosts to share it. The seven Leave No Trace principles keep it that way.

  • Plan ahead and prepare: know the rules and carry what you need.
  • Travel and camp on durable surfaces such as marked pitches and paths.
  • Dispose of waste properly: pack it in, pack it out, and never empty grey water into streams.
  • Leave what you find: shells, plants and fruit stay where they grow.
  • Minimise campfire impact: use fire pits and buy firewood locally.
  • Respect wildlife: observe from a distance and never feed animals.
  • Be considerate of other visitors: keep noise down and share the view.

Leave the pitch cleaner than you found it, and the host will be waiting with a smile next time.
